International electronic duo under:tones return with their second release of 2025, unveiling ‘Crossroads’ on September 26 through Through The Void Records. The single arrives on the heels of ‘Dreaming (Wide Awake)’, the track that launched the label earlier this year, and offers another preview of their upcoming sophomore album Encounters. The project, led by Alex Neri (Planet Funk) and Matteo Zarcone, follows their 2021 self-titled debut and continues to push the pair’s bold, genre-crossing vision.
Produced across Los Angeles, Florence, and London, under:tones weave a sound that pulls from the psychedelic sway of Tame Impala, the widescreen pop sheen of Empire of the Sun, and the rhythmic textures of Mura Masa, while carving out a distinctly personal identity. Their music balances technical polish with exploratory spirit, crafted for both intimate listening and festival-scale euphoria.
On ‘Crossroads’, this ethos takes shape in a glowing instrumental journey. Shimmering synth pads meet crisp percussion, steadily unfurling into soaring melodic peaks. A lead line threads through the track, guiding it between tension and release, resulting in a piece that feels both expansive and deeply human – a meditation on connection through sound.
“With ‘Crossroads’ we wanted to capture that exact moment when anticipation and release collide,” the duo explain. “It’s about energy, light, and the feeling of being part of something larger than yourself—whether at sunrise, in front of a massive crowd, or lost in your own headphones.”
