In this exclusive interview, Water Bear shares the story behind this release and talks about what’s coming next for his unique sound.
What first sparked your passion for electronic music production and led you into the world of Future Rave and Progressive House?
My passion for electronic music began with a deep interest in how sound can create emotional impact on a large scale. I was especially drawn to Future Rave and Progressive House because they allow for a balance between high-energy structures and melodic storytelling. As I developed my production skills, I focused on creating music that could connect with global audiences, which eventually led to releases with international labels across Europe and North America. This experience helped shape my identity as a globally-oriented electronic music artist.
What has been the most challenging aspect of blending Future Rave, Progressive House, Bass House, and Techno?
The biggest challenge has been maintaining a clear artistic identity while working across multiple genres. Each style has its own structure and energy, so the key is to integrate them in a cohesive way rather than simply combining elements. I focus on emotional continuity and consistent sound design to ensure that the listener experiences a unified musical narrative, even as the energy evolves throughout the track.
You’ve released music on over 10 international labels, including some connected to Sony and Warner. What’s one highlight from that experience that stands out to you?
One of the most meaningful highlights has been working with labels connected to major industry groups such as Sony and Warner. These opportunities allowed my music to reach wider international audiences and exposed me to global production standards. Seeing my music resonate across different regions, particularly in Europe and North America, reinforced my goal of building a sound that connects internationally.
What inspired the creation of your hit single, ‘Future Harmony’, and its festival-sized atmosphere?
‘Future Harmony’ was inspired by the idea of combining powerful festival energy with emotional depth. I wanted to create a track that could work on large stages while still offering a strong melodic and atmospheric experience. The structure is designed to deliver impact through dynamic drops, while the melodic sections provide a sense of connection and uplift.
How does ‘Future Harmony’ capture your personal vision of combining raw power with emotion in electronic music?
This track reflects my core artistic philosophy of balancing intensity and emotion. I used contrast in the arrangement, combining energetic drops with melodic breakdowns and atmospheric textures. This approach allows the track to engage listeners both physically and emotionally, which is something I consistently aim to achieve in my productions.
You’ve won awards like two Second Prizes at the Franz Schubert International Composition Competition (2026) and the Excellence Award at the Dany Award. How have these moments shaped your career so far?
Receiving recognition from international competitions, including the Franz Schubert International Composition Competition and the Dany Award, has been a significant milestone in my career.
In addition to previous recognitions, I recently received two IIIrd Place awards at the 2026 Nordic Scandinavian International Composition Competition, which can be verified through official sources.
These achievements have strengthened my credibility at an international level and reinforced my position as a professional composer and producer. They have also opened further opportunities for global exposure and encouraged me to continue refining my artistic direction.
What’s been the toughest challenge you’ve faced while building support from music communities in Sweden and the United States?
One of the main challenges has been establishing recognition in international markets without being physically present. Building support in regions such as Sweden and the United States requires consistent releases, strong production quality, and a clear artistic direction. It is a gradual process that depends on credibility and long-term development.
With everything you’ve achieved so far, what’s coming next for your music?
Moving forward, I plan to continue developing my sound within Future Rave and melodic electronic music while exploring more cinematic and emotionally-driven productions. I also aim to expand collaborations and work with more international labels to further strengthen my global presence.
What’s one unexpected habit or ritual that helps you stay creative in the studio?
One habit that helps me stay creative is stepping away from the studio at key moments. Taking breaks allows me to reset my perspective, and when I return, I can approach the track with a fresh mindset, which often leads to more original ideas.
