Giora Drops New Single ‘POWER CANDY’ from ‘FREEWAY’ EP Today

Today marks the arrival of Giora’s latest single ‘POWER CANDY , released through their label Holypop as the third single of the EP FREEWAY, scheduled for 1 May 2026. Raised in North London, the singer-songwriter-producer-performer-creative director-sound artist began with classical piano, voice and theory training before forming a band and writing original material in their teens. Later studies in orchestral composition at New York’s Juilliard helped them build the electronic production skills behind their 2023 debut album It’s So Quiet But I Hear You, which earned widespread critical praise. The artist has since performed alongside Isabella Lovestory, Varg, Babynymph, Elisabeth Elektra, Puce Mary, Kelora and Felix Lee, collected nods from NOTION, CLASH and Wonderland Magazine, and brought their experimental pop to CREEPY TEEPEE Festival in the Czech Republic, KWIA in Berlin and Bike Jesus nightclub in Prague.

London audiences caught the same sonic approach at Gossamer Fog, Spanners, Niche, Pocket Radio, The Divine and The Glory, while two sound installations were exhibited at Rich Mix and Stanley Arts. Giora also curates the Holypop label and its live events, championing queer experimental voices from the UK and Europe.

The song itself examines shifting power dynamics through a gothic love-song lense, revealing a softer, more exposed side of Giora’s catalogue while still delivering the inescapable emotional pull their fans expect. Giora’s vocals and lyric writing sit at the centre, supported by a palette of bold synth textures, a chorus rooted in breakbeat energy and a low-slung electric guitar figure that threads through the arrangement. Written by the artist, the track was produced and mixed with Czech collaborator Oliver Torr (Sunnbrella, Palmistry, Evita Manji) and mastered by Canadian composer Zac Tiessen

Giora shared: POWER CANDY’ is an experimental pop track about the seductive and addictive nature of power and the role of power games in human dynamics, creating a metaphor between candy and power, enjoying domination whilst simultaneously granting it.”
