Shizo van de Sunflower releases ‘Elektro Punk EP’ – A Gritty Techno-Punk Collision

The Elektro Punk EP by Shizo van de Sunflower dropped on August 1, 2025, locking in his status as a nonstop innovator in electronic music. Real name Daniel Blum, Shizo kicked off in the 1980s with C64 and Tracker Software experiments. Those early days morphed into a sound that mixes raw emotion with dancefloor fire. His tracks often dig into heavy stuff like depression, and fans totally get it. He worked with Sternentramper on the 2024 “War noch nie Kalifornien – Summer Remix” and earned props from acid techno legends Yves Deruyter and Emmanuel Top. His career’s packed with cred as he’s a regular at Dresden’s underground spots and played at Mittelgrün Con 2024

This four-track EP slams techno and punk into each other, giving a nod to DAF’s fearless vibe. ‘Das Mikrofon’ kicks off with a wild soprano sample from Kristina Sop, her operatic voice slicing through a thick, EBM framework. ‘James Bond’ takes a sly jab at the spy trope, its deep, pulsing bassline tearing down the character’s cool-guy swagger. The beat’s precise and sharp, dripping with dry wit that strips away the gloss, leaving a bare-bones rhythm to mock the spy’s overblown myth. ‘Ich war mal Punk’ offers spoken-word lines, their rough, jagged pulse echoing the lyrics’ letdown, every bar a raw cry for a defiance that’s been sold out, laid out with brutal honesty. ‘Herz aus Stein’ wraps the EP as a vocal-free beast, its nonstop techno heart pounding with pure, untamed energy.

Shizo van de Sunflower had this to say: “ I was inspired by the raw sounds of DAF’s pioneering era and created four tracks that oscillate between anger, irony and pure dance fever. German lyrics, no compromises.”
