“Bones and Machinations“, the upcoming EP from Danish duo Sweet Tempest, has been called “celestial, fluid, atmospheric” (Wonderland) and “fluttering, warm” (JaJaJa) in turn. But it’s not just the fact that tastemakers have deemed it fit for our ears; song after song by this couple has been of a consistently high standard, perfectly balancing the line between original and accessible pop.
The latest release, ‘Colourful Rain‘ is slated for release on the 5th May via Cicada. It was written, produced and mixed by the duo of Julian Winding and Luna Kira. Last year they scored a soundtrack, The Neon Demon, which has gone on to rack up over 1 million views on Youtube.
Other support includes the likes of Youtube channel ElectroPosé, GAFFA and Indie Shuffle. In 2016, they a did a support show for Fallulah, and the duo is certainly an act to keep a close eye on in 2017.
‘Colourful Rain‘ is set to further enhance Sweet Tempest’s reputation for crafting gorgeous, polished dream-pop music. The track begins with a loose, loungy feel, the vocals riding the relaxed groove as Luna seductively sings, “It’s alright, just take your time/It’s sweet on your tongue, boy/So don’t be shy.” The pitch-perfect 60s flavour of the song takes off in the spacey, reverb-drenched chorus: a beautiful, delicate refrain that is both catchy and wistful all at once.
